The fourteenth book in bestselling author Eileen Wilks’ World of the Lupi series raises the stakes for Lily and co. Dragon Blood is a fantasy/sci-fi novel more than a paranormal romance, showing just how far the series has evolved since the beginning.
Lily Yu and husband Rule Tanner are still fighting to rid the world of the Great B and her minions. The plot of this book continues from the cliffhanger from the previous book, Dragon Spawn. Lupi kids have been kidnapped and of course Lily takes initiative to rescue them, which gets her stuck in the dragon realm awaiting her own rescue. Will they be able to save the kids? Will they defeat the Great B?
This novel like the ones before it is descriptive, maybe a bit too much. Unless you are new to the series (and let’s be real, no one starts a series on the 14th book) the telling of past events goes into too much detail, leaving you longing to get to the action and find out what happens. But once everything is up to speed, then the fast-paced style that brought you to the series in the first place makes itself known.
It is a bit repetitive of the basic story structure of past books, which is a bit disappointing. I however hold hope that it is leading up to a major plotline that will either take things in a new direction or wrap up the story so that Wilks can move on to a new world of characters for us to love.
